BACKLESS STOOLS
A trio of backless stools can slip under the counter to save space in this tight Alabama kitchen by Susan Ferrier. The room being, unified by their cream color blends in with the island. "You do not need the eye to stutter in a little space," she says.
MONOCHROME TILE
"The kitchen is a great size, but little by Dallas standards," Craig Schumacher says of the Texas kitchen he shares with partner Philip Kirk. They averted an extensive remodel by installing inexpensive white and black tile and painting cabinets Benjamin Moore Brilliant White. An extensive ironstone collection overflows from shelves to walls.
Space-Economy Sensation
The owners with this American bungalow desired to make their small kitchen exotic. Dark cabinets with brown-and-black tiger striping makes to get a slick, modern look, while the light solid-surface backsplash creates a bold comparison. The layout makes the most of very little countertop space having a wenge butcher block that slides over the sink. A dining table on casters enables an eight-seater when not in use, to slide underneath the island.

WHITE CABINETRY
Ashley Whittaker gutted a Nyc apartment's kitchen, replacing the dark cabinetry and terracotta tiles with white cupboards and Carrara marble. "The room now feels two times as large," she says. The slender table provides additional counter space and doubles as a breakfast nook. Rather than recessed lighting, she selected a birdcage lantern from the HomePort Collections. "It's whimsical," she clarifies. "When you are dealing with a small apartment, why not make the kitchen feel like another decorated room?"
